I would like to tell a little story of an accident that happened last winter semester. I know it happened a while ago but I want the story published because it is quite a good one. I don't have a lot of luck when it comes to injury but this one takes the cake. One bright winter day we got the idea to go sledding. Let's face it in Rexburg there's not much else to do in winter. Menan hill is the best place for this and my roomate Anna and I had purchased the ideal sledding device...the tube.
The day went great, fast runs a couple of tumbles but it was beautiful. After a great sledding trip down I headed back up. I passed a group of six of my friends and did not think much of them. I got to the top of the hill to find Kyle waiting on a tube he yelled at me to join him. No big I had done it a number of times before. I jumpted right on with him. Chris quickly gave us a great push and it was right then that I saw the group of five friends lined up perfectly as bowling pins. I looked over at Kyle...who would do anything for a thrill.....and he smiled at me and casually said "Human bowling". Thoughts went racing through my head as we charged down the hill thanks to Chris' powerful push. "They'll move" I thought. How could they not with this great tube racing at them with people on it. We got closer and it was only the thought that any sane person would move that kept me somewhat calm. That went away as we got closer and closer and then BAM!!! We slammed into three of them. One managed to get clear while another got his leg knocked into. Two knees went into my ribs as my breath was forced out of me. Another knew jammed into my right eye. They pain was instant. Yet the ever reliable tube kept going. Finally we came to a stop and I rolled off the tube trying to get air into my lungs. I was panicking and couldn't calm down. Kyle rushed to my size calmly telling me to regulate my breath. Once this was taken care of . I got up. I felt my eye swelling and my ribs ache as my breath came shallow into my lungs.
We hiked back up the hill a ways to check on in my view the idiots who didn't move. I asked each one why and the over all answer I got was that they were 'hard core'. Tell that to my ribs that's all I could think. One girl....who turned out to be the one who stole from me later complained about her index finger. INDEX FINGER!!! Are you kidding me suck it up! I guess I have little sympathy after my injuries. It turned out that I had two cracked ribs and a black eye. I looked like a batter wife for about two weeks and had a hard time breathing for two months. The pain that I felt was unbearable at times especially when I woke up in the morning. Human bowling, not one of my more genius ideas.
